COUTTS' SPONSORSHIP OF THE ARTS
Coutts has a long history of supporting the arts and has looked after the financial affairs of many famous clients connected with the arts. Famous clients have included Bram Stoker, Charles Dickens, Chopin and Berlioz.
Former clients include Sophia Scalchi (1874), Emma Eames (1891), Emma Albani
(1873), Nellie Melba (1891) and Gasparo Pacchierotti (1779).
In the new millennium, this tradition has continued, not only through
managing the finances of many of today's top writers and musicians, but also
through our arts sponsorship programme, with commitments exceeding £1m. This
sponsorship not only enables the theatre or opera company to concentrate on
producing high calibre performances, but also allows Coutts to offer its
clients with exclusive access to a diverse range of events, with additional
benefits such as after-show dinners with the performers. The relationships
between Coutts and its arts partners are a great illustration of the
potential of first-class corporate sponsorship.
This high level of sponsorship has a dual importance to Coutts. We are
continuing the 300 years of tradition that precede the modern-day bank,
whilst affording thousands of people, not least our clients, the opportunity
to hear and see a live performance, whether it be classical, operatic or
more cutting edge theatre. Many fantastic arts organisations would not be
able to survive without corporate support; even at full capacity, the
Almeida's box office earnings can cover only 45% of the company's required
income.
However simultaneously, it is important for us to be able to thank our
clients for their support and provide entertainment that not only offers
'more than money can buy', but which also reflects the diversity of our
client base. Being able to provide access to bespoke WNO recitals and
theatre productions, has been a fantastic way of showing our appreciation.
It is our clients who will continue to reap the benefits of our sponsorship
programme.
This year, Coutts will be supporting;
* Almeida Theatre (principal sponsor)
