Amy Napper (26 years old. Born in United Kingdom. Lives in: Coventry) Coventry University
The work that I produce is concerned with contemporary ideas and themes about life and death. My visual vocabulary is influenced by the image bombardment we are subjected to on a daily basis through the media; the beautiful and horrifying amalgamated into a glossy dose of apparent reality ready for our consumption. Appropriating old woodcuts into my painting seems like a just reflection of how society consumes the old and regurgitates it with a different agenda. My amalgamation of mixed media similarly reflects this jumble of ideas, and questions the status of assemblage within a high art context.

Work of art I would like to make
I would like to create more canvases to project how I feel values and attitudes towards both life and death will change in the near future. In 25 years time I will be approaching 47 and my life could be altered through both life and death but also by political, environmental or other factors. I want to produce work that attempts to grasp how we as humans accept, embrace and progress from change and how it alters our general worldview. |
