Work of art I would like to make
My work looks into issues of urbanization such as the increasing growth of cities and one of the issues I would like to investigate further into my work is the notion of dominance (to reflect the dominant nature of cities). I have explored this through scale, such as the relationship between the scale of the drawing and the scale of the paper. Using the traditional medium of drawing as a metaphor for how the world could look in 25 years, I would like to create a large wall drawing using the simple medium of graphite, choosing this medium to signify the dull, raw and industriousness of cities. The invasion of space is a key theme of my work, and the wall drawing, with its repetitive mark making, will be transformed into a complex fragmented and ambiguous drawing, spreading, growing and sprawling on the wall like a virus with no boundaries, and furthermore, creating a sense of chaos. The drawing will be a development from my degree show work, therefore resembling characteristics from ‘Untitled 1’ (which is map like in nature) and ‘Unknown’. |
