Work of art I would like to make
My intention is to shoot and record the potential series ‘FLUXLANDSCAPES’ through the medium of photography and to also create a short film of the construction process to run alongside the work.
The signature within the series is the orange fencing that is used in general constructions, playing on the aesthetics and the symbolism of `death` in the land that is attached with this orange material.
Landscape and environment is boundaried, fenced, closed, owned and controlled, maybe more than at any time in recent history.
How apparent it is that such tight fixtures are put upon it is another matter. In this case, it is a matter of visual discussion, through a personal contemporary reflection of a ‘controlled’ land.
The photography is there to form a pedagogic exchange with the audience in an attempt to create a set of critical skills that could be taken up and adapted easily by the spectator. This does not make the work specifically politically favored. I am trying to reach out to an audience and also a public who will make their own interpretations.
Although a ‘silent protest’, the work is there to intervene with the ideological views surrounding an ever-changing landscape.
This process of performance within a landscape is founded on a theortical practice over the past years that have allowed me to bring together all types of mediums to the way in which I construct and curate the images that live in my mind.
