My practice is photography based and my interests encompass how we entwine illusions within perceived realities. The images I produce have an abstract approach which I use as a way of demonstrating how our interpretation of an event is greatly influenced by how we see the world in the context of our delusions and perceived truths.

Work of art I would like to make

If I won this competition I would be interested in producing a large piece of work which looks at how we use technology as a way of proving that we are an advanced society. My own understanding of the relationship with science and humanity is that this is actually an illusory world where our knowledge is not based on complete understandings or truths. The piece will focus on our perceived future advancement of humankind through technology, containing subtle reference to underlining flaws in the assumption that science has made us advanced. The image format will be based on a unique layering process I have been developing over the past five years. This new technique allows me to create a semi-abstract style which can be seen on some of the images which I have supplied with this application. My long term aim is to investigate how illusion has become a central part of our reality and to ask the question of whether we create delusions as a way of avoiding reality, and does this approach compensate for the guilt that we sometimes feel about uncomfortable features of our society.
