Work of art I would like to make

In 25 years we have witnessed considerable changes in the world that inevitably influence our expectations, aspirations, associations and fantasies, and whilst those experiences are logged as memories they continue to feed the imagination and enable us to identify with the world.

In response to the project, I would create a series of MINIATURE kinetic light sculptures contained inside boxes and spheres - dioramas similar to those in Utopa. The topic would represent the ‘technological age’ in which we live whilst depicting themes such technology in popular culture, technology in the natural world, and perhaps technology in politics, populations or war.

Works would be self-referential, and not literal, even though I may transcribe a book that is relevant to the concept, irrespectively, works would be constructed so as to trigger the imaginations of audiences. Whilst individuals would view the works through peep-holes, they would instinctively project their own conclusions as to how ‘they expect the world to appear in 25 years time’. It is YOU the viewer who creates and influences the world, it is YOU who might cause change, more significantly YOU the viewer are better qualified to interpret my artworks, through memories of life experiences.

Furthermore, the artworks would be totally concealed behind rows of bookends, and would comprise two free-standing bookcase, back to back (all white), whilst viewers would peep through holes (optical lenses) on both sides - as though peeping into the future through ‘Volumes 25’. Positioned within the middle of a white gallery space ‘Volumes 25’ would be accompanied by audio-recordings that would be composed in accordance with the theme and content.
