Work of art I would like to make

My work explores the very contemporary subject of online social networks and gaming. The networking site Second Life has a curious nature of constant expansion and exploitation of people’s online desires. Already in this online platform people have begun to make a living out of commodities within this game; Commodities that are only of a virtual form.
For me the theme ‘the world in 25 years’ time’ poses some great questions of painting from life. How as an artist can I place myself in the reality of the real world to an ever expanding online self. This online world can entertain any desires and fantasies; it gives hope of commodity and social interaction. So as this game grows and becomes intertwined with reality in the real world where does my reality of painting stop? For me this can create a bizarre narrative within painting this ever expanding game and its aesthetic desires. I want to explore the idea of peoples designed fantasies and my own, mapping out a large landscape of a virtual utopia of life that can never be realized. This for me means taking my work from the singularity of architecture and interiors to a larger collaged piece that tries to construct these virtual hopes of the future.
