Mattia Reiniger
My work centers around the urban space and the exploration of social/ physical changes around me.
Using photography and sculpture and video in the making of my works, I use the existing space or material as a starting point. By combining, altering or processing existing materials I set out to create a new space or situation that nevertheless provides significant reference of its origin.
For my Degree Project I explored the change of an enormous South London Housing estate since its early days until now. Using found images I created life-size prints which I subsequently placed in the location where the images were originally photographed. For the Degree Exhibition I then constructed a confined space and covered the surrounding wall with photographs (see accompanying images).
