Photography is my life, I am an image creator and collector. At the moment I am fascinated by memories, and photographing recreated childhood memories. For my degree show, I produced a book and several large prints on this subject. My work is often autobiographical, yet in many ways my experiences are universal, so I hope the work provokes a feeling of unity with the viewer, a kind of 'ah yes, I remember that too'.....

Work of art I would like to make
The family unit is key within society, yet the security of family life is increasingly challenged by modern lifestyle and expectations. I am intrigued by the often cyclical nature of family life, and the patterns that repeat themselves throughout generations.
I would like to reconstruct and re-photograph old family snaphots taken by my father in the 1970s and 80s, revisiting the same places, photographing myself and my sister, and also our children, to examine what is similar and different between the generations, to see what effect the passing of time has on the family,and how child changes into adult.
This would be a compelling indication of changes in family life over the past 25 years, and a possible prediction of how the family may develop over the next 25 years. |
