After many years as a soldier in the Army I've really surprised myself (and others too I think) with where my art has got to. Old materials and objects fascinate me and I love the scope they provide for creating associations with ones own experiences, beliefs and things we feel strongly about. For me art is about trying to confront people with aspects of life they might not usually think about.

Work of art I would like to make
I would like to base a sculptural installation on the idea of protection, old and now defunct political goals (yet with a sense that some threat may still remain from these) and how the passage of time can render strongly held views irrelevant.
The installation would use lead sheet as the primary material and handled so as to pick up on echoes and motifs of elements set out above. Some components I have clearly in mind already - others will need more thought. The scale would be 'ambitious' with lots of lead needed!
