Aidan Doherty (24 years old. Born in United Kingdom. Lives in: London) wimbledon collage of art
My work currently explores relationships between painting surfaces, grid patterns, forms, and geometric investigations. I see my work as having a purity and openness that offers many angles on approaching the work. The spaces in the work can range from constricted illusionist spaces to quiet mysterious hermetic worlds. The use of geometry and laying down of pattern is a useful starting point for me to understand the spaces of the painting and what will or will not exist in the world of the painting. Semi-familiar forms and strange enclosed worlds are born through moving paint around the surface in an investigative manor. Mysterious pictorial habitats start to exist and the more I explore the painting through experimenting with paint the more these habitats require forms to inhabit them and activate the painting as a whole, Visual relationships between painted ‘things’ ask so many questions about purpose in painting, for me this is the most exciting aspect of making art.

Work of art I would like to make
as a painter and not a sculptur the work i would make would be paintings. the painting would explore curious landskapes and unformilar forms that seem to have a life like presence, i would also like push the work in terms of scale, i would concider makeing 4 large scale works that interact with eachother on a visual level, and question space and what inhabits space on a no representational level. painting excites me and painting is my life so the work i make would be true to my practice and belifes about painting.
