Work of art I would like to make
I find that the theme 'the world in 25 years' time' - because it is so hard to picture at the pace at which our world and concerns change - is connoted with notions of the unknown, of mystery, and somehow, fiction, or even science-fiction. When wondering what the world might be like in 25 years, we are inextricably faced with our fears towards what might happen, and what might go wrong.
However, 'the world in 25 years' time' remains something incredibly difficult for our minds to picture - and the questions when and why, despite our speculations, remain unanswered. Whether the world will be a better or worst place, 'the world in 25 years' time' will mark or be marked by the end of 'something' - if not the end of it all, then certainly the end of an era, and many lives will have passed by. I remain fascinated by the mystery, poetry and element of unknown within endings - whether the end of a life, the end of an era, or the end of us as a mere part of our universe.
My aim will be to produce photographic work that reflects on these ideas - both as affecting realities and yet abstract and enigmatic conceptions. I am intrigued by what becomes of these finalities, of what they mean to us and what we make them.
The series of images will be an abstract piece of work and most probably be created using cameraless means.
