My work is shaped by my sensitivity to materials and the ephemeral nature of all things monumental.
Materials speak about the status and economies of a building. Structurally speaking, I am interested in the combined usage of old and new materials being used together to make new and more fluid contemporary formations.

Work of art I would like to make
My practice is process based involving an intimate and exploratory relationship with materials and form; including steel, cement, wood and plaster. Over the following year I intend to further my exploration of these materials through the process of making in order to develop my sculptural practice.
The prize would allow me to make large-scale structural sculptures in steel, cement and wood and would allow me to concentrate and develop my interest in the viewer’s role implicating the body within the installation of the work. The opportunity to work within a large space and to create work that both navigates and disrupts the viewer through its form, scale and structure is appealing.
Drawing is an essential and key part of my practice that directly informs and enhances my work. I use the materials that feature in my three-dimensional works often juxtaposing lightweight and delicate paper forms and ubiquitous architectural materials so that they often overlap fuse and blend.
My studio at Glasgow Sculpture Studios will allow me to explore these materials and processes further and provide me with the equipment, space and scale to create the work.
The prize would also provide me with the opportunity to exhibit out with Glasgow and Scotland allowing me to raise my artistic profile and develop my professional practice at the same time creating a wider dialogue and context for my work.
