My work explores ideas of the ego within art, the artist’s role in contemporary society, the parameters of success, failure and the insecurities of the artist within a world increasingly detached from the modernist genius-hero ideal. Work of art I would like to make

The works will combine to create a space in which a personal mythology will be played out. Combining romanticism, ideas of the avant-garde and maverick aspirations with failure, humour and irony. Balancing sincerity with performance to question the position of the ego within art, and the artist within contemporary society.
