Dewi Prysor
(26 years old. Born in United Kingdom. Lives in: Hereford / Cambridge)
Hereford College of Arts
Dewi Prysor is graduating from the BA(Hons) Artist Blacksmithing course at Hereford College of Arts this summer.
Previously following both art and engineering subjects at various colleges in Cambridge, he later worked in Suffolk, creating finely engineered components for the motorsport industry.
He is inspired by the dynamic imagery of British agricultural and industrial craftsmanship.
His sculpture is a modern interpretation of classic utilitarian techniques and forms, he draws on the essence of this heritage to create bespoke architectural metalwork.

Work of art I would like to make
Interpreting the past allows us to make decisions that will shape the future for the better.
One of the things that I’m acutely aware of from day to day is the way we use energy and where it will lead us. Not only as part of fuelling our homes and businesses, but also how we use and direct our own energies in modern Britain. How we fuel ourselves and our children physically, where it comes from and how it arrives and where it came from. What we fuel our minds with, the prejudices and the preconceptions we create, toward anything and everything in and around times such as these, the fear of the unknown.
I wrestle day to day with these thoughts as a citizen of our country and of the world, perhaps more so as a creator working primarily in an industrial material. With the global consumption of steel escalating, my conscious is again strained, as it calls into question nearly all my creative actions.
I’ve been thinking of a project I feel I need to make call the ‘Pylon series’. A family of high, column like forms. They will seek presence; in order portray the need for the changing of energy habits in Britain. They will be conceived in steel, a material we rely so much upon for construction… perhaps to much, yet yield to its qualities. And also as a warning, a reminder of the ruined ancient civilisations that have been destroyed through bad decisions, throughout time.
