Work of art I would like to make
If I were to be chosen as one of the 4 New Sensations it would be an honour, not only to have my practice recognised, but to also be represented by a well respected name in the art world. I would make a performace, or perhaps a series of short performances based on events in my life, still in keeping with the themes of cleansing and recycling, with the addition of exploring the word sensations; 1 a: a mental process (as seeing, hearing, or smelling) resulting from the immediate external stimulation of a sense organ
b: awareness (as of heat or pain)
c: a state of consciousness due to internal bodily changes
d: an indefinite bodily feeling
2a: a state of excited interest or feeling
“The sensation of what something feels like is used to describe everything from sensual pleasure to pain and torture.... your job is to either make them recall exactly what it feels like, or if they haven’t experienced it, what it would feel like if they did” (Rozelle 2005)
I will explore things that excite me, cause me pain or fear, opening myself and my audience to a series of 4 New Sensations. |
