About myself and my work
Recent Graduate from a joint BA course in Photography & Video and Fine Art.
Due to my course choice my final degree work culminated in 2 exhibitions:
One Moment Please
Central to One Moment Please are experiments with time's inherent ambiguous multi-dimensional qualities, ranging its focus on layered divergence and coalescence, expressing aspects of unexpectedness, contingency and variations (such as on the experience of the everyday), to the question of how various sound interpretations of the same visual edit would alter the viewer’s perception and relation to the work.
Though I have only included here 2 musicians' readings of the piece, the final work evolved to a set of musical versions consisting of one visual composition and four distinct aural landscapes.
The project title refers to the unresolved question according to which parameters one should orient oneself in order to define the beginning and end point of one single moment.
Aishtese - Aisthanomai (Greek = “to perceive, feel and sense”)
This 2 - channel installation with hourly live cello performance intensely utilises a dragonfly’s precise flight coordination as an analogy to the fitful, hypnotic complex of interpenetrating processes that constitute seeing.
Besides it questions our underlying driving forces in the act of looking and investigates the idea, that visual choices have the potential of initiating so called “aesthetic experiences”.
The cello’s repeating attempts to respond to an insect-like object reminds of ones own seeing, being in and out of consciousness in the act of registration.
