Work of art I would like to make
The body of work I have include for submission is a series that I am constantly working on and have done so for the last couple of years.
Therefore I believe the work I would like to produce would be a continuation or at least closely linked towards the body of work that I am currently undertaking. My reason for this is that I believe it is an ongoing project that will grow stronger with time.
The series is called ‘Aqua Effigies’ and are portraits of women that have been captured under water. It gives the illusion that they are drowning, which is often associated with a long and painful dead and not usually the preferred method of suicide.
I share a deep passion for traditional darkroom photography and I am working with black and white film to create my art form.
In the future I would like to create a work that carries on from my graduate work, but including the male gender in the collection, and exploring their expression and feeling that can be captured on to film.
