Origionally from Russia, I am a recent graduate of BA Graphic Design from Central St Martins. I have specialised in illustration, but early into the course I knew that with my work I was delving much more into fine art - where my passion has remained. Work of art I would like to make

My proposal is to continue this investigation into mania - expanding it, but moving away from my shown work. I would like the opportunity to create a series of sculptural works made from materials i have never been able to work with before, such as metals, wood and wax, echoing the aesthetic of Louise Bourgeois. I would like to look at and explore metaphor for the following themes:

the gulf between melancholy and mania
mania as an artistic strategy
the consumption of the individual within the manic drive - the loss of self

I would this to culminate is a series of sculptural works that interact with the body - which can exist on their own as part of an exhibition, or on a more interactive level.
