(32 years old. Born in Netherlands. Lives in: Edenbridge, Kent)
Wimbledon College of Art

The work has recently developed from a drawing-based image making process to a more paint-led, more complex negotiation of the two-dimensional medium. The initial stages of the painting are governed by a slap-dash attitude to mark-making, giving gesture and accident free-reign over the bones of the composition. The resulting set of (compositional) problems are then resolved by sketches, which are used by the painter as an aide to maintaining painterly freshness.

I would like to make a painting or group of paintings which I hope will offer a fresh and unusual view of what a landscape painting can be.
This work may be site-specific (painted outside in a landscape, or responding to the place where it will be displayed).
