Work of art I would like to make
I have recently been making paintings with a large number of adjustments built up in the surface. The final picture is victim to 'interference' from earlier images. I would like to think that the corrections and re-workings present in the paintings, not only act as a barometer for an amount of uncertainty in the actual making process, but can also act as a metaphor for the unstable place abstraction and abstract painting has in contemporary art. I intend to make a series of these paintings. The works will be connected by their built up and over-worked surfaces, but the rationale of how they come into being, allows me to pull in a whole range of 'disparate' images, as well as materials in the surface.
