Rufus Miller (25 years old. Born in United Kingdom. Lives in: London) Goldsmiths
My work explores and plays with mythologies and archetypes of selfhood in relation to the male contemporary artist. Using an everyday video/digital camera I create a frame in which to insert this character and try to include a level of critique whilst also rigurously focusing on the formal elements. All the work relies on a framework derived from performance and art historical references. Using myself and others I put into question the status of the young generation of rock star like artist's.

Work of art I would like to make
The art I would make would be video pieces made on an everyday digital camera. The bulk of editing would be done on the camera itself and the final stages would be tweaked on a computer. The work would rely on performers and would involve working very closely with them in a space for a period of time. The world in 25 years' time theme will be related in some way to the space and the ages of the performers. Contrasting and juxtaposing different generations and sects of performers and artists in a framework I will compose but with enough space for improvisation.
