Work of art I would like to make
If chosen as a New Sensation, I would like to make a painting about my transition as art student to practicing artist. All of my paintings have a personal level to them. Initially influenced by carnival and the carnivalesque, my paintings also touch upon allegory and double meaning. This double entendre is usually a subconscious thought or feeling, something under the surface. Making a painting which distinctly marks my transition and, more importantly, my own acknowledgement as an artist can only be a personal journey. It could be a subtle painting, or a big statement. The painting can only truly be realised when in the process of drawing. For me the drawing is the important part, only through hours of drawing and careful editing can an image be truly understood and ready for me to paint. |
