The work is a fusion of high-fashion magazine imagery with animalistic idolatry. I create a primitive folk-art popism that reflects these times succinctly but rejects the high-tech in favour of a hands-on approach. A glossy ultra modern cave painting, this work perverts core Pop art techniques whilst retaining the Pop-art mass production aesthetic and that movements desire for a fresh new art of now. Work of art I would like to make
The world is becoming an ever tacky, plasticised and synthetic place, but this is tempered by the 'return to the mud' organic movement that is also gaining prevalence in our society (within privileged Western Society at least)- The western world in 25 years time will be an uneasy synthesis of these two concepts. The humans of the future will accept themselves as part of the natural world but will still love neon. I want to create a futuristic Sex Shop that satisfies our basic instincts but still looks to the skies: Creation of an Erotic shop/Gallery space, subverting the traditional sex shop into an environment for art and creative endeavour,converting the traditional Gallery into a space for sensual physicality and pleasure. Completely animalistic, but done with the most extreme modernism.I want to fully embrace our sexy future by creating a land of 'totally wow and totally now' hard-core delights: Paintings will coexist with erotic retail- toys, costume.25 years from now Fetish fashions will be fully intergrated into the mainstream, ie, Marks and Spencers will have a porn dungeon.I want to create Tactile visuals, visual tactiles- a displacement of expected sensations, paintings that stimulate physically, erotic devices that stimulate aesthetically.
