Work of art I would like to make
What remains outside the codes of familiar encounters? How does one leave a trace that’s more concrete than pissing on curves? How does this trace perform as image, as enigma? Where does it begin to mean something?
I am interested in locating an encounter of incoherence. I envisage these encounters to take the form of structures that mark an event that took place, a decision to pause, a reason to build, an invitation to perform. An alternative space of habitation seems important, the making of a space perhaps or an action will take prominence over the things representing something in themselves. The final piece will take the form of a booklet that will play with how objects and events are passed through the image, inviting the many voices that begin to entwine, weave and demarcate the certainty of thresholds, boundaries and hierarchies. Walking, collecting, building and photographing will be methods of accumulation and construction. I am intrigued by a loss of information, obligation and context where what is seen becomes uprooted in materiality and nature, colliding the surreal with an objective realism, the banal with the absurd, the empirical with the poetic, the great with the impotent.
