Have a break, have a story
|
|
I've been watching an artist paint for 4 years, he has been at it for 30. He hides in a place called Skerries. His paintings are so emotional I've seen grown women cry and men walk closer. A man came once and bought all his paintings that were hanging. He said that had happened before. I dragged him to London I said go and see people, show them your work. He couldn't do it. He couldn't beg people he said. He went to all the openings but wouldn't steal their time, he wouldn't do what most Londoners do. Yet he has so much to say on the matter of art. He's gone back now, he says only the work matters, he'll be marching up the beach breathing in the air before intoxicating himself amongst the oils. But I can tell you something, his work will be there in 200 years time.

Mid Career Artist Seeking Gallery Rep Outside US.
http://www.tarnowskiart.com
|
|
Hello
My name is G. Tarnowski. I am professional artist with a deep resume of exhibitions in the US, and major works in public and private collections. I recently left my exclusive worldwide agent after more than a decade of art representation. I am looking to build professional relationship with more international specific art galleries. If that is you then fell free to evaluate my artwork, artist background and credentials.
My work is diverse and unique like my original style of Modern Allegorism (see Wikipedia), Being a diverse artist my abilities go from to Realism, and another original art manner of Elemental Abstract. I would like to submit my work as consideration. I am an experienced professional mid career artist. My work is considered a new global art movement.and is in permanent collections in six major museums from Australia to the United Kingdom with galleries representing my work from Hawaii to the UK.
I have enjoyed a loyal collector base that includes Mel Gibson, Aaron Spelling, Ted Turner, Lonnie Anderson, Jane Seymour, Barbara Eden and the Billy Graham Institute.
If you are a blue-chip gallery or museum, please review my art, information and professional history. I look toward to discussing any future professional art relationship. Feel free to search the distinctive art catagories of Tarnowski and let us know what best matches you and your clientele.
Sincerely,
Glen Tarnowski

What is the end of the world? For many, December 21 2012 is just one of many false predictions which have taken place in the past. For others, however, this is the date when everything is really coming to an end. Some arguments which support this prophecy include the end of the current cycle of the Mayan calendar, a polar shift which will create floods and tectonic events and the words of several prophets which have marked next year as the last one humanity wil ever see. For us, the interesting thing is that beyond the personal (and valid) opinions regarding this predictions, there is a strong theme which we would like to see represented in different formats by different artists. 2012 can be a perfect platform to reflect on the path our society has taken in relation to other human beings as well as nature. The end of the world can be an inspiring source for creation and destruction, either if you believe in it or not.

Art Erotica
http://www.http:arteroticaexhibition.co.uk
|
|
Open to all Media except video from living artists over the age of 18 worldwide.
Erotic art has a long and distinguished, if controversial, tradition in the history of modern art. Arguably, eroticism in art brings us closer to our humanity, yet there are few genres in the arts that have been as under-represented and unjustly maligned as expressions of what we, in all our rich diversity, find erotic. Enter now to be a part of the debate.
This is a high-profile opportunity to exhibit for artists producing work in the erotic genre. In four short years the Cork Street Open Exhibition, which attracts thousands of entries by emerging and established artists from around the world, grew to fill two large galleries in Mayfair, London's art-dealing centre.
Building on the success of this widely acclaimed annual event, the decision was made to introduce a second, themed competition. As with the original open exhibition, Art Erotica will benefit a selected charity and will be juried, with submitted work carefully and rigorously chosen by five leading figures in the UK art world. Edward Lucie-Smith will open the exhibition on behalf of this year's charity FPA at the Private View fundraiser.
The dates for Art Erotica are 19-27 January 2012
There is a limit of six entries per artist. Over the past 3 years the judges have stated that they find it easier to choose work by artists they have seen several entries from, as opposed to single entries. Therefore, in order to encourage multiple submissions, which are clearly to an artists' advantage, the fees for entries subsequent to the first submission have been reduced.
Registration which includes your first entry is £25, Additional entries are £14 each up to a total of six.
2012 PRIZES
The judges will award cash prizes for Best of Show and a Runner-Up. A Visitors' Choice Prize will be voted on by visitors throughout the Exhibition and announced at the end of the show. In addition there will be a Purchase Prize of £1,500 selected by the exhibition director and several Materials & Services prizes.
Additional prizes will be added to the website as they are confirmed.
- Grand Prize £1,500
- Runner Up Prize £750
- Visitors' Choice £500
- Purchase Prize £1,500
- Category Prizes Featuring Materials & Services: £250 AC Art & Framing Prize
- AC Art & Framing Logo: £100 Intaglio Printmaker Prize

NEW SAINSBURY OPENING AT SAATCHI!
|
|
I want to build a temporary Sainsbury, Tesco or any other similar store in a well established gallery to draw light to the fact that art in whole is an industry.
Any art institution would tell you that art doesn't necessarily have to get sold and that the value is in its language and the topic it raises, which is true as well, but how will that pay the bills?
An artist has to make a 'product' he thinks the consumer might like and exhibit it at a gallery(a Store) just like any other industry.
It will also be interesting to see how the public will react; will they buy more groceries because its an art installation at a gallery?
Will they browse the shelves of the art-piece in the same manner as they would look at art in any other exhibition?
And compared to any other similar sized convenience store, how much money can it earn by having the stamp 'art-installation' on it?
if you find this interesting, please contact me:

Call for Submissions - Curious Pursuits
http://www.porterandjenkinson.tumblr.com
|
|
Art historian collective Porter & Jenkinson are looking for artists and writers for their exhibition “Curious Pursuits” which will be held at The Portico Library and Gallery, Manchester from 3 to 29 February 2012.
Artists are invited to respond to the ideas and aesthetics of Victorian dark societies, the curious and the peculiar. Often perceived as prudish and straight-laced, the Victorians’ obsession with erotica, the sensational, murder stories, freak-shows and theatrical spectacles has long been pushed to the corners of society’s collective mind. Art Historian collective Porter & Jenkinson aim to bring these forgotten ideas to the foreground and explore the responses and reactions in our contemporary society.
FREE ENTRY.
Closing date 31 December 2011. For more information and the application form please visit http://porterandjenkinson.tumblr.com.

The selected wine labels will be attached on glass bottles and displayed in October within a show in our evocative spaces in the core of the town. The occasion will offer a real possibility of visibility both for the artist and for the label with the consequent chance to be producted on real wine bottles in a limited series. A digital catalogue will be produced and distributed in a CD to Franciacorta wine productors.

We want to see works that cross the boundaries of reality and that transport us into this end of the world.
Project 2012 will be an itinerant exhibition around London. There will be 5 shows, one week long, per season (Autumn 2011/Winter 2011/Spring 2012/Summer 2012/ Autumn 2012) and the Grand Finale on 21/12/12 which will gather all the artists who have taken part of the previous shows.
We are currently selecting the artists for the first Show, held at the Ground Floor Left Gallery between October 5th-9th, coinciding with First Thursdays.
1st Deadline for October 2011: 10th September 2011

Open call for ‘How far can we reach?’ Art Festival
http://www.neverinthemiddle.net
|
|
“How far can we reach” is a three-day art festival held at the prestigious Topolski Century Gallery, www.topolskicentury.org.uk, located on South Bank in London, on the 29/30/31 of July.
The artist Feliks Topolski (1907 - 1989) dedicated his life’s work to a journey exploring and capturing the major moments of one of the most significant century in history, Felix travelled the continents and collected testimonies and memories from events that changed the world to his every day encounter with people from diverse cultures and his personal story of memories and dreams to a unique, monumental work located at the Topolski Century Gallery on the South Bank.
Following the same longing for exploration and manifestation of the world we share and beyond, we are inviting artists from various art practices to explore the meaning of ‘journey’ and the varying facets, from those deep within ourselves to that which identifies us in relation to each other.
Using Journey as a word with different meanings and thus multiple expressions we invite you to respond to how far can creative exploration reach through all mediums of artistic expression including visual art, spoken/written word, photography, video art, sculpture, performance and music.
Submission is free.
For an application form or further information please visit www.neverinthemiddle.net or email papadimitriou.froso@gmail.com
