NYFA Source
http://www.nyfa.org/nyfa_source.asp?id=47&fid=1
The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) provides artists, arts organizations, and the general public free online access to the all-new NYFA Source, the nation's most extensive databank of grants, residencies, publications, and sources of information and assistance for artists of all disciplines. NYFA Source identifies more than 2,700 awards programs, 2,100 services and 800 publications for artists in the dance, music, folk/traditional, theater, performance art, visual, design, media and literary arts - from the Conrad Cantzen Shoe Fund of The Actors Fund of America (granting a new pair of shoes to unemployed actors going on auditions) to the MacArthur Fellowship Program (multi-year awards reaching $500,000). An easy-to-use search engine will allow users to narrow queries by discipline, location, gender, age group, application deadline, and more. Searches can be as general - cash grants for dancers (239 opportunities yielded) - or specific - female ballet choreographer who must reside in Minnesota (1 opportunity yielded) - as desired. In addition to the web site, artists may receive personal assistance by calling 1-800-232-2789 (1-5:00 p.m., EST, Mon-Fri) or e-mail their requests to visual@nyfa.org or performing@nyfa.org.

The arts in education program is a cooperative effort of the council and the State Education Department, with the council as the administering agency. The funding categories are operating support, implementation, planning, and special projects. Certain requirements and restrictions apply in each category. Public schools, BOCES, and artists interested in artist in residence programs or technical assistance to develop or evaluate arts in education programs should contact New York Foundation for the Arts, Artists in Residence, 155 Avenue of the Americas, 14th Fl, New York, NY 10013; (212) 366-6900. NYSCA Museum Grants
http://www.nysca.org/public/guidelines/museums/index.htm
This program seeks to ensure the care and interpretation of the state's cultural heritage through a commitment to supporting high-quality exhibitions, educational programs, and publications, especially those that interpret the art and history of traditionally underserved populations. The program supports expanding public access to the museums of New York State, the presentation of high-quality, well-researched exhibitions, especially those that explore the art and history of groups whose cultural contributions have been consistently underrepresented; interpretive programs that will give the general public the opportunity to understand the artistic and/or historical content of exhibitions and also will place the exhibitions in a meaningful cultural context; the upgrading, care, and documentation of collections; development and adoption of professional practices in all areas of museum work; and appropriate compensation of museum professionals within the context of an institution's community. Funding categories are general operating support; planning for organizational change; collections management; conservation treatment; art exhibitions; history, science, and anthropology exhibitions; exhibitions planning; and museum education and interpretation. Applicants to this program may request funding for no more than five projects and are encouraged to apply for fewer than five; multiyear general operating support qualifies as one of the five requests. Each category and subcategory carries its own requirements for application. Guidelines should be obtained from the program. Annual deadline dates may vary; contact the program office for exact dates. Application materials may be downloaded from the Web site.

NYSCA Visual Arts Grants
http://www.nysca.org/public/guidelines/visual_arts/index.htm
The program, through its funding, aims to reflect the expansive range of contemporary art activity as defined by artists. The program will support any organization that aims to expand the range of contemporary art by assisting artists' efforts to create high-quality new work; by producing and presenting this work to the public; and by interpreting contemporary art for the public and the state's artistic community, while helping to foster critical commentary. Especially welcome are adventurous and risk-taking programs/projects, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary work, new developing forms, performance-oriented art, work of an experimental nature, and projects that stress process over product. Further consideration will be given to organizations and projects that ensure equal participating opportunities to artists of diverse cultural, racial, and ethnic background; to women artists; to artists in mid- and/or advanced stages of their careers who have not received exposure or recognition for their work; and to artists who are disabled. Funding categories include general operating support, general program support, artists in residence, single exhibitions, and special projects. Each of these categories carries special instructions, requirements, and restrictions. Annual deadline dates may vary; contact the program office for exact dates. Application materials may be downloaded from the Web site.
