Our Aims

To be recognised as one of the foremost institutions in the world for learning, practice, research and development in arts, design and communication.

To achieve this we will provide a learning environment in which originality is recognised, difference is respect and excellence is pursued. We will value creative risk alongside the acquisition of skills and knowledge, and promote the challenge of underlying assumptions as an essential element of creative education.

Location and Getting there

LCC is fortunate to be well served by numerous bus routes. It is also close to the Underground as well as main line trains.

You can take one of the following routes: 1, 12, 40, 45, 53, 63, 68, 171, 176, 355 and 188.
To reach us by train
You will find the Elephant and Castle on both the Northern and Bakerloo tube lines and across the road from the college in the shopping precinct there is access to Thameslink and Blackfriars mainlines train.

Information For Undergraduates

LCC offers a wide range of full time and part time undergraduate degree courses in the following areas. BA Honours degree and Two Year Foundation Degree (FdA) programmes are available, along with the LCC’s new Combined Honours Degrees. Top-up Degrees are available for FdA students wishing to achieve a BA Honours status.

Information For Postgraduates

LCC runs postgraduate courses at Certificate, Diploma and Masters levels in the following subject areas. Most courses are offered on a full-time and part-time basis. Some courses start in January and some in October.

The MA courses at LCC have a reputation for academic rigour and industry recognition. They normally take 45 weeks of full-time study or 90 weeks of part-time study.

Information For International Students

As an internationally recognised centre of excellence, LCC attracts students from all over the world. We are keen that international students benefit fully from their experience at LCC, socially and academically, and from studying in one of the most exciting cities in the world.

Student Facilities

The College’s studios and workshops are equipped with the latest technology needed for our highly practical courses. We really teach you the hands-on skills and technical know-how you will be expected to know in your chosen workplace. You will also have access to the vast collection of learning resources of all six University colleges. If you are a designer or photographer you will have ample opportunity to display your art in our galleries.

Student Support

A broad range of support systems help students to enjoy their studies and resolve any difficulties, these include:

Study support
Study support exists to help students with assignments, dissertations, presentations, maths, planning, research and time management. Screening and support for students with dyslexia and individual support programmes for students with disabilities can be arranged.

Tutorial systems
LCC has a comprehensive tutorial system which aims to ensure that you have termly personal tutorials to review progress, offer guidance and offer help with academic and personal problems.

Student Life

With students of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, LCC has a great community atmosphere.

Its distinctive energy and enthusiasm is probably due to the fact that all the staff and students here are dedicated to media, design and communication specialisms. There is a buzz and air of busy dedication all around the building.

In the lifts, in the canteen and galleries you will hear conversations about ongoing projects and exhibitions. As a student here you will find yourself working within a busy, stimulating environment where lecturers are still practising professionals who know their industries at first hand and are only too pleased to help you succeed in your career ambitions.

The active Student’s Union provides numerous opportunities to meet up and socialise with other students outside of study-time. The Union campaigns on issues affecting student life, runs a magazine which students contribute to and also offers a lively range of activities for students including sports clubs and societies and volunteer schemes. Accommodation

The Housing Services team are here to help students find accommodation in London before they arrive and throughout their time at the University of the Arts London. Our newly developed website has a wealth of information, so please refer to www.arts.ac.uk/housing for assistance or advice. It will answer many of your questions.

As an overview, University-managed accommodation offers a range to suit all budgets and tastes. We have 12 residences throughout north, south, southeast and east London, varying between small independent houses to the more traditional hall of residences. Alternatively, you may wish to live in private rented accommodation and we can provide you with detailed information of houses and flats available to rent, flat share schemes. Other initiatives such as house hunting workshops will assist you in the task of finding a home whilst you are in London.

How To Apply

LCC offers a wide range of courses and there are two different ways of applying for a place on a course. These are:

• Via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS)
• Direct to the college on an LCC application form

It is important to follow the correct route to avoid delays in processing your application. In general, applications to full-time undergraduate courses are made through UCAS, while applications to Further Education, Postgraduate courses and part-time Higher Education courses are made directly to the College. Visit us (open days)

All open days for undergraduate and pre-degree courses take place on Wednesday afternoons. They all follow a similar format, starting with a presentation in the lecture theatre, then a tour of the facilities, ending with a question and answer session.
