The Department of Creative and Performing Arts was established in September 2006. The Department offers undergraduate courses in Art, Design and Music and opportunities for postgraduate research in Art, Design, Music, Contemporary Irish Theatre, and Postcolonial Studies.
Art
WIT offers students a unique opportunity to study art through a course with a strong contemporary basis. They are encouraged to take a broad view of the role of the artist in today's society, and themes studied include Art in relation to: Environment, Technology, Performance and Society.
Graphic Design
The Graphic Design Department aim is to produce graduates for the various areas of graphic design. The Design Department covers studio practice, design history, marking, and visual culture. Covering lectures/topics in photography, illustration, lettering & calligraphy, colour theory, computer graphics, 3D studies, design history, AppleMac Technology and software, branding & advertising, marketing, packaging design, poster, magazine & brochures design along with identity design.
