San Francisco is served by two airports: San Francisco International Airport (SFO), located in South San Francisco and Oakland International Airport (OAK), located in Oakland. Both offer excellent ground transportation including BART trains to San Francisco. CHESTNUT ST. CAMPUS

By car:

From the East Bay
Main access to San Francisco from the east is Hwy 80 and the Bay Bridge. After crossing the bridge take the Fremont Street exit (right side). Turn left on Folsom Street to the Embarcadero. Go left on Embarcadero to Bay Street. Go left on Bay Street to Columbus Street. Take a left on Columbus and move immediately into the right hand lane. Veer right at Tower Records onto Jones Street. SFAI is on the right, between Francisco and Chestnut Streets.

From the Peninsula
Main access to San Francisco from the South is via Hwy 101. Entering the city northbound on Hwy 101, follow signs leading to the Golden Gate Bridge. Exit 101 at Van Ness Avenue. From Van Ness go North to Union Street. Turn right on Union. Go two blocks to Larkin Street. Turn left on Larkin. Go four blocks to Chestnut Street. Turn right on Chestnut. SFAI is 2 blocks down Chestnut Street on the left.

From Marin County
Main access to San Francisco from the north is via the Golden Gate Bridge. Follow signs to Lombard Street. Continue on Lombard past Van Ness Avenue to Hyde Street (2 Miles) and turn left. Turn right at the next street, which is Chestnut. SFAI is 1.5 blocks farther down Chestnut, on the left.

Public Transportation
The most direct MUNI bus line is the #30 Stockton, which runs along Columbus Avenue and intersects with BART and many major bus and subway lines throughout the city. There is a bus stop at the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Chestnut Street. The main entrance is 1.5 blocks up Chestnut Street. Visitors can also take the Embarcadero Trolley, which connects to BART at the Embarcadero Station. The trolley station is located at Market and Main Street. Take the trolley to the corner of Beach and Jones Streets. Walk up Jones Street 5 blocks, turn left on Chestnut; the main entrance is located in the middle of the block. Parking
The San Francisco Art Institute is located in a residential neighborhood. Parking is available on all of the streets immediately surrounding the school.


GRADUATE CENTER

By car

From the East Bay
Main access to San Francisco from the east is Hwy 80 and the Bay Bridge. In the left lane as you leave the bridge, take the Fifth St exit on the left. Turn left onto Harrison. Turn left onto Sixth St. Merge onto I-280 South. Take the Mariposa exit toward 18th St. Take the 18th St. ramp and turn left onto 18th St. Turn right onto Third St. The Graduate Center is located at the southeast corner of Third and 22nd.

From the Peninsula
Main access to San Francisco from the South is via Hwy 101. Approaching the city northbound on Hwy 101, merge onto I-280 North. Take the Army St exit. Turn right onto Cesar Chavez/Army. Turn left onto Third St. The Graduate Center is located at the southeast corner of Third and 22nd.

From Marin County
Main access to San Francisco from the north is via the Golden Gate Bridge. Follow US-101 South into San Francisco. Turn RIGHT onto VAN NESS AVE/US-101. Turn Left onto Golden Gate. Turn slight right onto Sixth St. as you cross Market St. Merge onto I-280 South. Take the Mariposa exit toward 18th St. Take the 18th St ramp. Turn left onto 18th St. Turn right onto Third St. The Graduate Center is located at the southeast corner of Third and 22nd St.

Public Transportation
The MUNI bus 15/Third St. is the most direct line to the Graduate Center. The 15 route runs west to east from City College via Balboa Park BART to the Graduate Center at Third and 22nd St. From Fisherman's Wharf, the 15 route begins at Kearny and follows North Point, Powell, Columbus, Montgomery, Clay, Sansome, Sutter, Market (Montgomery BART), Second St., Brannan, Fourth St. (Caltrain Station), to Third and 22nd St. The new light-rail T train starts at the Fourth St. Caltrain station and runs on Third Street, connecting to the 22 Fillmore, the 48 Quintara, and other trolley lines. Parking is available on all of the streets immediately surrounding the Center.
