Allah O Akbar is created from decorative materials in green and red, such as coloured leather whips and Swarovski crystals. Although Allah O Akbar visually evokes a speech bubble asserting devout beliefs, there is a sharp contrast between the materials used and the meaning that the words traditionally convey. Literally translated, the words mean ‘God is Great’ but in using leather whips and Swarovski crystals to fashion these words, they begin to suggest conditions of violence.
