这七幅纸上作品属于一个名为 Eraserhead 画作的连续系列。它们最初是从报纸上剪下来的黑白照片;照片的大部分 Holstad 没有去碰,而是小心翼翼地将照片上其它部位的墨水擦去,形成幽灵状的模糊空白,从而表现照片的主题—政治人物、风景、心灵—他(它)们都是畸形而孤立的。作者用铅笔将细节在原位进行扭曲、变形,并大幅度地将原图象重新语境化。这种技术与作品的比例及脆弱性相结合,营造出巨大且高度个人化的怜悯因素,唤起人们的失落感和恐惧感,并且威胁着我们对媒体形象的信任与体验。
