On Saturday 1 July London-based artist Shane Waltener and a handful of cohorts (including your humble narrator) ventured out to South Hill Park, in Bracknell (Berkshire) to bring some of his crafty know-how to the park's annual Summer day. Performance knitting in the midst of a heatwave is not something that might make much sense, but the day couldn't have turned out better. The lovely Shellac Sisters provided plenty of '78 rpm musical entertainment, Ruchama the knitting mermaid made her debut (look out for her upcoming tour!), and I even learned how to cast-off, after much resistance.. the ring-o-yarn might even still be stretched on the grounds, waiting for further pagan rituals...

Waltener's next group knit art event will take place 22 July in Southampton, and his next solo show will be at MK Galerie in Rotterdam this Autumn.
