The Saatchi Gallery and the Guardian are joining forces to create the first 'reader-curated' contemporary art show, featuring emerging new talent from Your Gallery. The exhibition 'Your Gallery @ The Guardian', will take place from 24-28 October in the Guardian's gallery in London's Clerkenwell.
A panel of judges has chosen the work of 30 artists from the 10,000 artists who are registered on
the Your Gallery website. These 30 artists were featured in a special launch issue of the Guardian's G2 supplement on 6 September and on the Guardian's website. Readers were given until 18 September to vote for their favourite work, and the ten most popular artists have now been selected for exhibit in October.
Your Gallery aims to provide a global platform for artists to exhibit their work to the international art community, including dealers and collectors. By collaborating with the Guardian the Saatchi Gallery hopes to further enhance the profile of the artists on Your Gallery and to encourage the general public and the art community to visit the site where they can find some of the best new talent from around the world.
The judges are: artists Marc Quinn and Cornelia Parker; Mollie Dent-Brocklehurst, co-director of the Gagosian gallery; Tim Marlow, director of White Cube, and broadcaster and Guardian art critic Jonathan
Jones. Their shortlist of 30 artists is revealed in the Guardian's G2 supplement today and below.
To coincide with the launch G2 featured an exclusive interview with Charles Saatchi in which he discussed his passion for art and shared his fascination for the internet and online opportunities for artists and collectors.
The work of the ten selected artists will appear in the Guardian Newsroom gallery from Tuesday 24 October to Saturday 28 October.
