Yesterday we went to a thanksgiving meal,,, it was all artists and everyone made a dish,, so it was a bit like a group exhibition on a plate... it was great,, sarah baker made a carrot cake,,, pil and galia collective made pumpkin pie and a very flash apple pie,, (they also gave me some pastry tips..),, ant and jen from temporarycontemorary made the cranberry source,, diane bauer made the bird,, the punk made a vat of mash and greens,, ian monroe and Isha Bøhling made roast spuds,, there were some artists i didn't get the names of who made some funky beetroot mouse salad thing,, which i liked,, someone made a sweet potato gratin thing,, also, very good...

Hello again. i thought i'd tell you about the damien hirst opening last night at the serpentine... it was works from his collection.... the thing was the queues to get in,, they where insane,,, it's so typical, you know the serpentine is in a park right, well there was a massive queue to get into the park, like, massive,,, looked like it might take a hour or something,, but you know,,,, it's just a park,, so i hopped the fence and walked straight in...then of course,, if you can believe it,, there was another massive queue to get into the show.... there were people being ushered in left, right and centre,, but i didn't see that happening to me,,,, so i went to find a drink (the bar was outside),,, and can you believe it,, the cheeky fuckers were charging for them! fXXking liberty! fxxk that, i'm not paying for a drink at an art opening hosted by a millionaire,, so I thought I'd check the queue again,, so i casually wondered towards the front,, and what do you know?? someone screams out my name and drags me in,, right at the front of the queue,, so 2 minutes later,, i was in.... and that just goes to show, which is what I think damien hirst was trying to say with his collection as a matter of fact,,,, you have to blag your way to the front in this world,, otherwise you get nowhere....

i just watched Miami Vice. it's no HEAT, but you're never going to get another HEAT, are you? i still rate michael mann though,, i think he knows miami vice is no HEAT as well,,, because just at the end,, when the words Miami Vice come up,,, at the end of HEAT,, the words, a michael mann film, come up,, like he's signed it,, like a painting,, HEAT is a painting anyway, it's the best painting ever,, there was probably a lot of studio shit with miami vice,, ,, i wish i'd seen it at the cinema,, probably would have made a big difference,,

so,, Tomma Abts just won the turner prize,,, what a major anti-climax,,,, she's so very serious and dull,,, i bet she never had so much as a zit in her life,, let alone a major concern,,, still,, lets look on the bright side,, it's a woman,, and a painter,, two things there are hardly any of these days,, well,, other than all the other ones,,, the thing about the turner prize is that its SO un-rock-roll,, that's why the public aren't interested,, because it has no relevance to them,,

Sunday night/Monday morn
so.................... i'm just in the door from the modern art party at on the rocks...on the way i saw a new work by space invader, under the bridge at hoxton square,, then inside i got an earful from some disgruntled artist re the last show i worked on,, i was like,, yeah,, whatever,, good luck with your work.. maybe I'll see it one day.. then the first gig came on,, some product... who was groovy,,, kind of rock bitch poetry, fuck the world kind of thing,, very good.... then no bra was up to bat,, she'd really livened up her act since i last saw her,, she's super-embraced the pole-dancing titty bar look,, which actually worked incredibly well.. they're just sacks of flesh, aren't they? breasts.. then selfish cunt were on to do their shamanic screamadelic thing... the guy's like a drunk frank spencer on viagra ,,..... but it totally rocked though.. proper style,, like killing your first born,, it felt good,, but you knew it was wrong.. whatever,, there will be more children to slaughter,, more noise to deafen the effect of the benzedrine....

Friday night
Oh man.. I've been sick today... very sick,, vomiting and everything,,, it's my own fault.. i was on that juice again,, new cross's finest devil juice.. oh shit,, i was just meeting someone to pick up a drawing but we ended up getting totally bolloksed,,, it was dirty.... then when i got half way home,, i realised i'd left the fucking drawing in the pub,,, so i went back and of course it was gone,,, actually it was two of my drawings because i put another one in with it,, so some cunt out there has got two of my drawings,, they're weird drawings though so ,,, well whatever,, maybe i'll buy them back one day.. but after i went back to the pub,,, i met a victor at the bus stop and got a lift home.....
Saturday
so i'm pretty much better from thursday night,,, but my stomach is still fucked.. i didn't leave the house today,, i did some writing,, goofed out, the punk made a ham...
Sunday
so,, i finally left the house... to go the video store.. i got this film, the squid and the whale,, have you seen it??? you have to... it's excellent... messed up as psycho ward.. it's all about a family back up,, but gorgeously cringworthy... there are two kids in it going through some major personal and sexual problems,, the younger kid has got a bad habit of jerking of around school and wiping the penis spit on girls' lockers... definitely check this film,, oogaly hilarious..

we're all stressed out,, we're going away tomorrow and we're stressed.. the punk is stressed.. i'm stressed,, we're getting phone calls from stressed people.... fuck i hate travelling.... i don't mind it once you get there,, it's just the journey that sucks.. why do the airports have to be so fucked up,,, they don't catch anyone with all that security shit....
anyway,, i been making tapes for the trip,, i got a load of cd's from the library,, stuff i should have heard,, but haven't,, i got the gorilaz lp,, damon dayz,, which is ok,,, the big hits you know,, and there the best things,, there's quite a few,, then i got the roots manuva -- all back to mine mix cd,, which is alright,, not too special,, i doubt he put much effort into it,, if you didn't know anything about ragge it might have been more impressive,, now i'm listing to the new adam green lp,,, jacket full of danger,,, i never know with A.G... i usually hate his albums on the first couple of listens,, then get really into them... on first listen,, this one is following that pattern,, i.e. i hate it,, we'll see if i end up loving it, as with the rest... he's a prolific mother fucker though.. i thought i just got an lp by him earlier this year.. and i've got the goldfrapp one still to come.....
i didn't tell you about the mathew day jackson p.v did i?.. there was this show at the tate i popped into first,, media burn.. then i went to cubitt for the day Jackson show,,,, he gave me a guided tour which was helpful.. i'm doing a talk on the show in feb so i'll have to try and remember what he said.

Hi, I'm in an internet café in porto nova, benin, west Africa,,,, its madness,,very hot,, voodoo is the national religion here,, which is interesting,, you get kids coming up to you asking for change,, but they've got masks on and d.i.y kiddy voodoo outfits.. we went to the gate of no return,,, which is apparently where hundreds of thousands of slaves left Africa from,,, so it was a bit like visiting Auschwitz,,, it's a beautiful beach though which adds to the wierd vibe,, it's all very French here in Benin which is strange,, because it's kind of third worldy,, so you'll have a bar which is basically a mud hut,, but they are really well stocked up on fine wine..
We've all been sick to varying degrees, except the punk,, who now thinks she's genetically superior due to being Canadian,,,, we're travelling around the place,, each time we go from city to city we get a driver,, and we've had some crazy drivers,, the best one was this guy felix,,,, why was he so good? "Because he was 6ft 6 and 300 pounds of pure driving terror",, to quote the punk,,, then there was the rasta driver,, who's car was a shrine to Haile Selassie I and all things jah.. saskia liked that one.. xmas eve was good,, we were on the beach,, right by the gate of no return and there were hundreds of these celestial Christians having a big ceremony,, they look like they're from a different century,, all dressed in white robes and diving into the sea,, singing hallelujah till sun rise,, yeah,, those celestial Christians know how to party..
Weekend
saturday.. just in from the show at hotel,,, it was a gallery swap with guido baudach gallery from berlin... a group show of his artists...there was one, erwin kneihsl whose work was particularly nazi-esque,, all guido's artists have got a certain nazi something going on, but this erwin guy was unusually explicit with it.. then there was this after-drinks thing at that secret drinking place that's run by saint martin's students... i got home and the punk was watching rambo... first blood. then last night i went to this gabriel lester event at bloomberg,,, he's a funny guy that gabriel lester,,, he did a very funny speech,, which was just that bit long...which made it funny,,, then he carried on,, and on,,,,it was good,,,, i think he offended some of the Bloomberg suits' wives,,, saying things like i shat in the soup or whatever.. oh.. rambo is crying now....

well,,, evening,, i didn't see any art in galleries today but i thought i'd write a little note anyway as it was perhaps a noteworthy day... started early,, we had a kind of team meeting,, i had porridge from borough market, 2.50,, not quite sweet enough,,,, then i fucked around and did some work i guess,,, then at lunch i did an interview with some dude from the daily telegraph about the sale at Sotheby's which includes work by banksy,, so i was asked to comment on that,, can't remember what i said,, i'll check it out when it's in print............
then what... oh,, yeah, one more thing,, I bought some stuff to do some prints at home,, it's a bit time-consuming and pricey sending them off,, so i'm going to try some at home,, which i'm excited about,,,, i'm in this show next week where everything has to be green or something...

bonsoir,,, i'm in a hotel in paris, i got here last night, spent the day doing research and an interview,, very good,,, am off to a restaurant tonight called, benoir, which was recommended to me,, it's meant to be the dogs knackers, we'll see, last night was fun, we ended up having oysters and champagne next door to the hotel in this crazy fish restaurant,, then came back to the hotel for the after party,
