A number of artists have asked whether there could be a section on the site where art could be sold directly to visitors. Although of course visitors are able to contact artists directly to buy from their own Saatchi Online or Stuart profile pages, some artists want to be able to have a page where individual works can be displayed with prices, so that buyers can make purchases more directly.
We are shortly going to launch Saleroom Online, where visitors are able to buy art straight from the page, with the Saatchi site taking no commission from artists and no commission from buyers.
You can load up your works now, and they will appear as soon as this section goes live in the next few days.
Each artwork will be displayed large scale on a single page, allowing visitors to simply move from one work to the next. Artists can be searched for by location in case collectors are looking for artists in a specific city or country. We will not be creating separate categories for, say, photography, painting, prints, digital work, sculpture etc because in our view most collectors do not have a fixed agenda of what they are interested in and prefer to browse.
Payment is via Paypal or whatever payment method is suitable. It is customary for buyers to pay for transportation, though some buyers may wish to negotiate this, or ask for delivery if they are local to the artist. DHL or a similar organization can deliver most artworks anywhere in the world.
