Becca Thorne's winning cover
HarperCollins and Saatchi Online are delighted to announce the winning design for the cover of the hardback edition of The Last Days of the Lacuna Cabal by Sean Dixon. The shortlist was considered by a judging panel made up of experts who are all linked by their love of art and books. All the judges were extremely impressed by the standard of entries in the shortlist, and overall both Harper Collins and Saatchi Online were delighted by the high number of entries and the range and quality of all the designs. We would like to thank everyone who has taken part and we hope that you will continue your journey in the wonderful world of the Lacuna Cabal when the book is published (1 July 2008).
The judging panel was made up of experts who are all linked by their love of art and books:
Peter Davies is a highly respected artist whose work has shown at the Saatchi Gallery, the ICA London and is currently displayed at Tate London.
David Headley is co-owner of the independent London booksellers Goldsboro Books, specialists in signed, first editions.
Rebecca Wilson is Head of Online Development at Saatchi Online and formerly Publishing Director at Weidenfeld & Nicolson.
Lee Motley is Art Director at HarperCollins. She has designed covers for novels by Douglas Coupland, Tracy Chevalier and Cecelia Aherne.
It has come to light that the winning submission of this design competition did not comply with the terms and conditions set out by HarperCollins and Saatchi Online. Therefore we are awarding the prize to the cover selected by the judges as their second choice, created by Becca Thorne. Her striking cover will be used on the finished book, published on 1 July.
