M·A·C HOLIDAY 2008 COLLECTION
"Red She Said" is about the passions of red. What is the perceived meaning behind the color and why does it trigger such strong emotions? Red is sexy, it's taboo and it's sensual, but at the same time always sophisticated and chic.
The tone of the M·A·C Cosmetics holiday campaign is moody, and the lighting is dark with hints of blue to accent the rich palette. The packaging encompasses shades from the brightest garnet to the deep cranberry, all rich in texture.
THE COMPETITION
M·A·C, Make-up Art Cosmetics, is proud to announce our first ever window design competition. What does "red" mean to you? How would you interpret the color into a bold architectural installation to create an eye-catching display? Perhaps it is not an architectural installation, but rather graphics or a sculptural display?
With over 100 different store layouts, your design must be modular to fit into windows of varying sizes. The winning display will then be manufactured and installed in a minimum of ten flagship and key M·A·C locations worldwide.
PRIZE
In addition to seeing their concept realized, the artist will receive credit on the glass of each installation, mention in the press and a prize in the amount of $1,500.
REQUIREMENTS
Window concepts can include both two and three dimensional elements, and once executed should be easy to install in an area ranging from 3' x 3' x 8' (depth x width x height) up to 4' x 15' x 8' (depth x width x height).
When brainstorming please keep in mind the cost of each installation should average $3500 to cover the materials, the construction, the installation, etc.
Your design should also be informed by the attached inspirational photograph and packaging. Products in this packaging will be on display for sale alongside the winning installation.

All designs must be submitted by July 1, 2008 via e-mail to MACcontest@artcollc.com. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE!!!
