MURMUR ART AT SELFRIDGES, LONDON

murmurART, a pioneering new platform working with emerging artists at the outset of their careers, launches this summer with a pop-up exhibition in Selfridges' Concept Store, the alt-creative hub of the store's luxury department, The Wonder Room.

Ten prominent figures, headed up by Alannah Weston, Selfridges' Creative Director, have picked their favourite young artists, whose work is exhibited in a show curated by Flora Fairbairn. Conrad Shawcross, Tracey Emin, Kirsty Wark, Tim Marlow, Kay Saatchi, Anita Zabludowicz and Kevin Spacey have each selected one upcoming artist for the exhibition.

A selling show, featuring works priced from £1,000, murmurART at Selfridges allows the artists to take 100 percent of the sale price of their main exhibited work, with more works available to buy at www.murmurart.com. Exciting editions and artist-created products, priced from £50 to £500, are on sale as part of the exhibition and available for visitors to buy and take away.

Of the project, Alannah Weston said: "Selfridges has a long-established history of collaborating with artists and supporting emerging talents. murmurART at Selfridges is another very special project in which we are delighted to be involved as it launches both a new exciting venture in murmurART and brilliant new artists."

murmurART was set up in April 2008 by Will Conibear and Donald Eastwood, with the sole purpose of providing an online platform for supporting and showcasing the best in new art talent. On murmurART.com works can be viewed and bought, allowing visitors the freedom to buy from beyond the confines of a traditional gallery setting. Unlike other art websites, the murmurART team rigorously select the most exciting artists and the highest quality work to feature on the site.

Working in close collaboration with former Editor of ArtReview Catriona Warren, and leading independent curator Flora Fairbairn, both of whom have a proven track record in spotting the hottest new art talents, the murmurART team is constantly sourcing the most exciting up-and-coming artists. Moreover, murmurART provides buyers, who are starting a collection, with professional guidance and the assurance of an expert eye.

This isthe first in a programme of murmurART exhibitions to take place in spaces across London.
