January 26, 2009 - Vantage Art Projects is proud to announce an open call for submissions for VANTAGE POINT, a EXHIBITION-IN-PRINT curated by PAUL BUTLER. Artists of any age and discipline, from any country in the world, are invited to submit in response to our curatorial theme. Currently in-term as an invited artist at the Mountain School for the Arts in Los Angeles, CA; Paul Butler is a Winnipeg-based artist, curator and dealer with an interest in multidisciplinary, social and alternative pedagogical practices (www.theotherpaulbutler.com). Paul's oeuvre includes The Collage Party, The Other Gallery and the Upper Trading Post. Paul has exhibited at locations including: MOCA, LA; White Columns, NYC and Sparwasser HQ, Berlin. Curatorial projects have included artists Matthew Higgs, Mitzi Pederson, DearRaindrop and Guy Maddin. 30 selected artists will be published along with a selection of Paul's work and collaborations with other artists. To be launched in June 2009, this project is unique in the scope of it's inclusiveness, and in the overall aim to create open dialogue in visual arts through art publications. The curatorial theme developed by Paul is in keeping with his own collaborative multi-disciplinary and social intervention-based art practice. The Tallinn Winter Exhibition (For the Children of Narva) 2008 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS! This fellowship for research on American prints of the 18th and 19th centuries or for projects using prints as primary documentation is funded by the American Historical Print Collectors Society and AAS. Fellows are selected on the basis of the applicant's scholarly qualifications, the scholarly significance or importance of the project, and the appropriateness of the proposed study to the society's collections.

The program supports visiting fellowships for historical research by creative and performing artists, writers, film makers, journalists, and other persons whose goals are to produce imaginative, non-formulaic works dealing with pre-20th-century American history. The fellowships provide the time for uninterrupted research, reading, and collegial discussion at the society, between January l and December 31. Fellows receive a stipend plus an allowance for travel expenses. Application and guidelines are available online.

Awards open to British and American nationals and those of other countries resident for at least five years in the UK or the US. There are two Awards available, the nine-month Abbey Scholarship is usually given to an exceptionally promising emergent painter, while the three-month Abbey Fellowships are awarded to mid-career painters with an established record of achievement. The Abbey Scholarship and Abbey Fellowships offer all-expenses-paid residencies at the British School in Rome, with a stipend of up to £500 a month for the Scholar and £700 for Fellows.

The foundation makes grants to nonprofit Texas organizations, other than private foundations, that are involved in such undertakings for the public/society benefit including arts, cultural, and humanities; education; health; human services; and religion. Types of support include general operating support, continuing support, annual campaigns, capital campaigns, building construction/renovation, equipment acquisition, endowment funds, program development, seed funds, scholarship funds, research grants, and matching funds. Block scholarship grants are made only to institutions of higher education located in Texas. Recipient colleges and universities are free to administer the grants. Education grants are limited generally to institutions of higher education, including religious institutions (Baptist, Christian, Lutheran, Methodist, and Presbyterian). Applicants must seek funding for the same proposal from various sources because sole sponsorship of programs is rarely undertaken. Grant requests are considered and awarded throughout each year. The trustees prefer to consider only one request per applicant each fiscal year. Unsuccessful proposals may not be resubmitted for at least 12 months. Applicant organizations that have never received funding from the foundation should request a preproposal questionnaire; the trustees will review the request to determine whether it warrants a complete proposal. Grant requests are considered four times per year. Annual deadline dates may vary; contact program staff for exact dates.
