SCULPTURE-PERMUTATIONS VOL2009
http://www.SCULPTURE-PERMUTATIONS.COM

Sculpture-Permutations
The'Sculpture-Permutations'project is presenting it’s second edition and would like to invite aspiring participants to sign up.
This project enables the creation of sculptures which can be combined with each other.
Each artist participates in the interactive project with a sculpture which can be disassembled into three pieces. The combination of all works is possible as their interfaces are congruent with two predefined silhouettes.
It’s possible to view the various components and assemble them via a graphic interface which can be found on the projects website.
The shapes that are created often hold an unexpected integrity.
The random continuation of profiles and the interplay of unrelated volumes give the
'permutations' a spontaneous flow and a strong body language. The contrast of content and style in the assembled sections, as well as the unusual motif combinations, forebodes a hidden symbolism in the eye of the beholder.
The main idea of this work is to share, so we are inviting sculptors that are interested in this project to participate. They are able to involve themselves in a project which combines personal freedom with the highest degree of interactivity. The aim is to create a framework for collaboration between sculptors of the most varied backgrounds.
The final date of entry for the third version of 'Permutations' is 10 March, 2010.
Information for participants can be found and downloaded on the website.

The Lottery Show
http://www.studio1-1.co.uk
|
|
studio1.1 in an experiment (both tongue-in-cheek provocation, all-out fund-raiser but also an utterly serious proposal), will be opening the gallery in 2010 to a four-week show by an artist selected entirely by lottery.
Any artist, in any discipline, able to afford £10, may enter. 100 per cent of funds raised will go towards subsidising the show and the gallery's running costs.
We present this In a spirit not of cynicism and despair, but in an attempt to bypass the career-feeder-roads of networking, rich relatives and bare ambition. At studio1.1 our aim is always to be on the side of the artist, responsive to their needs rather than those of a commodity-hungry market: an impractical attitude compared to the much more normal adversarial/exploitative relationship of artist and gallery in the outside world. We stick with it nevertheless. And so in a bid for total transparency we have prepared our personal response to the fact that the world as seen from this corner of Shoreditch is entirely full of artists, most of whom inevitably lack a voice. (There are only so many white walls, only so many hours in the week a gallerist can devote to opening jpgs, examining portfolios or visiting Open Studios).
The winning number will be drawn by a celebrity guest on October 17 2009 during the zoo/Frieze weekend.
As with any lottery, there is no restriction on the number of tickets an individual may buy.

How can I apply or show one of my adaptation on Shape of Things: What doe$ it repre$ent? (a print of a real performance, which only has been performed twice.)
This is a critic on Art education and discussing the definition of Art.
Instead of making an copy of a play, we created something that shows the method of the process.
I would like to show this performance!
Regards
Nikoletta Szedenics

How do you create a warning system to prevent an accidental unearthing of 200 million pounds of radioactive nuclear waste? A simple sign, some chain link and a military post might work today. But what about 10,000 years from now? In 2002 the U.S. Department of Energy brought together engineers, archaeologists, anthropologists and linguists and asked them this question. What type of warning system can be put in place so people, 370 generations from now, won't open the glowing door?
What they came up with is hardly inspiring: a large earthen mound with a salt core and two identical Dr. Strangelove-esque control rooms with a warning message written in the six official languages of the U.N. and Navajo. Construction of this Waste Isolation Pilot Plant is scheduled to begin in less than three years.
What if an artist designed the system?
Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art is asking artists, architects, cartoonists, computer engineers, graphic designers, scientists—and anyone else up for the challenge— just that question. Design a warning sign or create a work, a system, that speaks to the nuclear gravesite issue. Graphic novelists might translate the project and solution into story panels. Architects may offer a blueprint for the facility itself. The artistic focus may be as narrow as an image on a sign, or as broad as a full-scale vision of the future. The Journal is encouraging maximum interpretation and creativity.
Eight works will be selected for print publication in Issue 48 of the Journal (spring 2010), with additional, select submissions posted on the Journal website, columbiajournal.org.
Submissions can be created in any format/media, so long as they can be reproduced on the print page. The only limits are size: please make sure that your canvas measures 6' x 9' (horizontal x vertical) or 12' x 18' (horizontal x vertical). Submissions that exceed these specifications must be able to size down, legibly, or they will not be considered.
The deadline for submission is October 1, 2009.
Please email submissions to columbia.journal.arts@gmail.com with the word 'submission' in the subject line.
