For fourteen years Tom Bogaert documented genocide and human rights abuses in Africa and Asia as the lawyer for Amnesty International, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the UN Representative to Rwanda. Five years ago he resigned to become an artist. One of the works on view at his first solo show in New York is 'This is Rwanda', which consists of video footage recorded during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda which Bogaert has turned into a video-game animation.
