If you missed the Angela Ferreira show at London's Parasol unit last season months ago, there's another chance to see it at Michael Stevenson Gallery, accompanied by the first screening in South Africa of the film 'Maison Tropicale' by Manthia Diawara, commissioned on the occasion of Ferreira's participation in the 2007 Venice Biennale.

Thirteen life size works made over time with the earliest dating from 1999 and the most recent 2008 by Tshwane University of Technology lecturer Jan van der Merwe reveal his ongoing preoccupation with universally relevant issues such as power, responsibility and violence. This South African artist is exhibiting three-dimensional polysemic conundrums at the iart Gallery in Cape Town, South Africa until 31 October.

In 2005 Mikhael Subotzky showed a series of photographs exploring the South African prison system at the Nelson Mandela Cell at Pollsmoor Prison in 2005. Subotzky's first solo show in Cape Town opened last week and presents an outstanding series of photographs of Beaufort West, recently described by the South African Human Rights Commission as 'an isolated town that has not broken away from the shackles of South Africa's apartheid past, [where] economic and social integration is severely limited.'
