EMERGING ARTIST OF THE WEEK: ALISON BRADY AT MASSIMO AUDIELLO, NEW YORK

Alison Brady graduated in 2006 with an MFA from the School Of Visual Arts in New York. With the help of simple props - fishing wire, salami slices, filthy bed sheets - she arranges homemade Grand Guignol scenes, where friends and strangers are invited into a performance of the artist's projection into an absurd reality. The result is both a humourous and disturbing body of work that explores unconscious emotions, desires and sexual compulsions. allisonbradyTINY.jpg

MATTHEW BUCKHAM: EMERGING ARTIST OF THE WEEK

Surrounded for the next five months by macaroons and eclairs at Maison Bertaux, Soho's prettiest and oldest cake shop, are fifteen of faux-naive drawings by Matthew Buckham. 'Woodenship' is the collective title - a Crosby, Stills and Nash song and a made-up word that seems to sum up the exhibition perfectly. Along with their cheque books on the opening night came uber-agent Caroline Michel and actors Steven Berkoff, Ralph Fiennes and Bernard Hill. Laura K Jones reports. buckhamopeningTINY.jpg

NATALIE CZECH: EMERGING ARTIST OF THE WEEK

Young German artist Natalie Czech creates her prints by pulling thousands of similar images off the web, corralling them in photoshop and manipulating them into dizzying new arrangements. Her first major solo show, at Berlin's Jette Rudolph Galerie, displays a series of digital collages composed of recognizable motifs from the online news, repeated ad nauseum, a series of curated collections of a 'world events': natural disasters, protests, fireworks and confetti. KATE ATKIN: EMERGING ARTIST OF THE WEEK

Reality and dimensional ambiguities are two of the things that Kate Atkin's fragmentary, survey-like graphite drawings and reliefs of natural formations capture, things that cannot be seen by the naked eye - nor by the objective lens of a camera. Lungs-2007-Pencil-on-papsm.jpg

For his first solo exhibition in Berlin young Brazilian video-artist Marcellvs L. (born in 1980 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil) is showing a series of video works characterised by the way in which they detach commonplace objects from reality - a rope moving in water, a man walking along a street, wind blowing through leaves, a boat moving slowly to and fro - slowing down time in an attempt to create a tangible physical staging of duration. marcellvzTINY.jpg

Nessie Stonebridge's first solo show is the product of four years of dialogue, support and collaboration with Debbie Carslaw, the livewire owner of young gallery, Madder Rose, that opened in June this year. Stonebridge's work comprises a mixture of delicate but dramatic charcoal drawings and paintings that veer widely in scale from small works measuring no more than 20 x 20 cm to gargantuan triptychs almost 3 x 2m. Jane Neal reports on Stonebridge's first exhibition in London which is on view until until 6 February. nessie2TINY.jpg

THIS WEEK'S EMERGING ARTIST: WHITNEY MCVEIGH

Whitney McVeigh, whose work you can see more of on Your Gallery, is currently exhibiting at the Charing X Gallery in London's West End. Her new body of work consists of large-scale works on paper - some as large as 8 feet high - in which through a process of automatism, McVeigh pours paint onto the thick, fabric-like paper, then gently bends the paper allowing it to carve out the image. whitney1tiny.jpg
