FRANCIS BACON DOCUMENTARY PART 2
Part of The South Bank Show series, this documentary about British painter Francis Bacon is directed by David Hinton. The programme includes interviews with the artist, commentary by South Bank Show presenter Melvyn Bragg, a tour of his studio and the drinking and gambling haunts Bacon frequented in London.

I think he is very honest. Painting is more work than expression. He works daily like in any working place. You do it conciously not in an emotion or affection. I feel relaxed when I paint but sometimes very frustrated and I hesitate a lot. I ask my self Is this good or bad? Is this shit? Can I achieve my vision at all. We think that an artist is a magigian that people adore or so but it is a myth. Romantic illusion. What about truth: poverty , hunger, sort of money that nobody wants to hear. My sister failed as an artist. Now she hates art museums. It was so terrible to make a failure as an artist that nobody would buy.

I simpel l o v e it.... Must be a tween brain somewhere and his the closesed that come to me... Everything he says about background and developing art are my beleews too. And why of making art. Painst are as much surprise for the painter as for the looker. Hope to find my style just begone. But write things see things and paint.. one day caos gone be complited... Love that man That he have his clear moments and write it down - just me. Ty for letting me be a part of thise

Man, I love the way he speaks about painting! "What did you feel when you painted this painting?" "Nothing I don't feel anything when i paint...what is there to feel?"
