I love the self portrait looking upon his happy family, i think his explaination explains his expression in the piece. I just love the translucent qualities in many of his paintings.

What a Great Video. Inspiration. The Best one of the "Artists Studios" interviews. Interesting Strong Work Art. Its a SHAME that there are grown Men & Women here talking down on Other Saatchi Artists. Is it because hes Not Native American? WOW This is why people like yourselves will NEVER be successful with your ARt. There is No concentration on whats important. Like an Actress who Only Parties at night & does No True Acting. What is she? Its Strange & Dark. Excellent Clip Saatchi!

it is nice to see someone getting personal in their work, not worrying too much about the abysmal conceptual depth some OTHER artists get drowned in while trying to bypass aesthetics. His themes might be repetative, nevertheless eternal for their human factor. To like it doesn't mean you have to live it. He's alright, i like the Cardplayers.

Sometimes i think that artists shouldn't be interviewed, they are not that interesting!

Umbrella, you fool -- the portraits of children are what he does for a living, to subsidize the rest of it -- and who the hell, pray, are you?

I love his work, definitely among the greats. An artistic Heathcliff, darkly deep and passionate.

And if you have any doubts whosoever have a look at this page:http://www.sachanewley.com/children_01.htm It is pure kitsch ! And this guy has the nerve to give an interview ? Bloody hell ! Where all these idiots praising him are coming from ?

There is no real quality, depth or spirituality in Newley's works. It is that simple. There are thousands of artists equally shallow all over the world.I don't know him personally and I could not give a fig about his small talk. What he has to say is completely irrelevant.

Personally I think it's great that someone is painting figurative, emotional paintings. And reviving subjects such as the Temptation of St. Anthony.
Sarah Speares    25-06-2008
Man you have everything..that's wonderful. Your paintings are a hybrid of El Greco meets Reginold Marsh..period works indeed.

Fabulous interview,Sacha comes across as a caring, interesting guy with fabulous technique and original subject matter.

Sacha... what did you do to upset "umbrella"... loose her phone number?!?
Alex Bremer    24-06-2008
I think the person who commented that the work was boring, might not appreciate the light and dark aspects of the work. The color in the works appear to strive to communicate a struggle to understand conflicting feelings. The subject of the paintings does not personally interest me, however the composition, the effective use of light and contrasting influences make the pieces worth a look.

I went to have a look at your website (http://www.sachanewley.com ) .Your paintings are unbelievably boring mediocrity.Sorry Sacha but it is embarrassing.Who really cares about what have you got to say ? Your "works" says it all.My only question would be who on earth is promoting you so boldly and why ?
