i lived in berlin a few years ago and i was wearing a t-shirt with the self painted letters of BUBI SCHOLZ. during this time i was sick of seeing everybody walking around with shirts and stuff with names on it from mostly american sport stars. i thought in this moment did't we have no sport stars in our own country even the ones who past away and why we can't also be proud of them without being "nazis" again?! i lived in the prenzlauer berg area at this time, the area where BUBI SCHOLZ was coming from. from the late 1950 to the early 1960'ties he was one of our greatest german box stars after the second world war with also international success as european champion in middleweight and cruiser weight. i guess, today he would be the perfect brand character for PUMA .... CRITS comments: "like this piece alot love the shape of the tshirt .. the whole painting has alot of character. love to see more of your work. powerful personal opinion conveyed through popular object, the t-shirt has an incredible universality." (Alexandra Martingues Singueleperez), "The little "degrees" symbol next to "Berlin" (is that what it is)...is a very nice counter-reference to us stodgy Americans with our ridiculous Fahrenheit temperature scale (ironically of German origin) and our gutless attempt to switch to Centigrade in the 1970's. (Yeah, we could have all been realists over here, too.) We need a new set of balls in this country; I elect we give those balls to a woman this time. Comments on Technique:
Sensible 2-dimensional mentionable. Wonderful brown all around (and in all the right spots). Comments on Subject matter:
T-shirts are the artist's uniform as well.
Comments on what the art communicates:
Some statements just need to be statements. Comments on Influences:
God, maybe?" (Lacey Stinson)
