| Following a Fine Art (Painting) degree in London, Jo has worked as a painter using abstract/semi-abstract subject matter, concentrating on shape, colour and texture.
After obtaining her own kiln she was able to explore the medium of clay and glaze with great freedom. As a painter she is very interested in the decoration of the ceramic surface using shape, colour, texture and relief.
Her wall plaques are based on images taken from her paintings. Using stoneware clay each piece is slab built with relief, incised and bisque fired. Jo uses a variety of underglazes, opaque and semi-transparent glazes and lustres, with 2-4 firings per wall plaque.
