| We enjoy the dramatic and sweeping scenes that are the subjects of many of Mu Yang Shen's grand landscapes. In this one is pictured the Li River in Guangxi Provence, in Southern China, reminds me of a lake and alpine scene that I owned by the 19th century European painter Franz Hengsbach, in my collection at the internationally-recognized inn that I owned in the U.S. (last I heard, the painting moved to Japan - I moved to China). The only difference is that the mountains are of the type that I always see in those more demure classical brush and ink Chinese paintings, but this painting is bold. The small house boat is dwarfed by the slender finger-like mountains that have been carved by the river, rising so high that the clouds come down to mingle among them. The painting measures 100 cm by 80 cm, and it will be shipped dismantled and rolled. Price includes shipping. |
