Art work Description:
Like several of the early French Impressionists, Mulhaupt, who would go on to fame with his renditions of the Gloucester, Massachusetts shore, was attracted to the ancient town of Moret during his French years. The timelessness of the ancient bridge and gate tower (La Porte de Samois) contrast with the laundresses going about their daily chore.
